Blahbuster
I love it when big companies get called out for having a crappy online marketing strategy (Blockbuster).
I’d also like to add that their natural seo sucks; if you’re a company like Blockbuster how the hell do you let someone like DVD Avenue out-rank you? I bet I could fix that problem in about 5 minutes. Blockbuster, if you’re listening here’s a freebie: put your main “money keyword” in your title tag. Replacing parts of that image with real text wouldn’t hurt either, in fact just recode the entire HTML, it’s awful. Sometimes I wonder how some of these people still have jobs.
This would also be a good time for Blockbuster to respond if they’re monitoring their buzz. We’ll watch the original post to see if there’s a response. I’ll keep you updated.

Cameron I doubt if they can’t get their seo right they even have a clue about reputation management or even blogging for that matter. Nice call out though, let’s see if they “get it”.
Personally, I honestly feel that quikfliks has the innovative spirit required to overtake Blahbuster AND Netflix in the arena. After all, just look at the creativity they used in that name. Combined with that spooky homepage picture of a guy and his mullet-sporting androgynous partner (let alone the fact that their refreshments are BEHIND them), it’s readily apparent who the real marketing geniuses are.
There is no excuse for the big businesses to get thrashed by the little guys. Executing SEO for Coca-Cola, etc. has got to be one of the easiest things in the world. How many millions of sites are already linking to them, how much traffic do they easily get, what is their marketing budget?
I love it when they do though.
