SES NY Recap

I had a blast at SES New York. These conferences are really starting to turn into part vacation for me. Sure, there’s a lot of hard work and business to be done, but doing so is a lot of fun. I attribute that to the great folks in the SEO industry who are just about all super friendly, laid-back, and know how to have a great time.

I met so many new people in New York and would say that my drink offer was a big success. It really is a great way to meet new people and I would recommend trying it if you’re shy like me.

Here’s a picture of my ugly mug presenting on Linkbait & Viral Search.

Shout-outs
I really enjoy hanging out with the “best guys on the web“. Brian & Greg are all-around just super chill guys. The also brought Dave Frank & Rob Schmid from the crew who are a great compliment to the team. Big thanks for the grub from McCormick & Schmick’s and everything else.

Kris Jones and the Pepperjam crew for throwing a very extravagant private dinner party. It was also sponsored by Vintage Tubs and some other companies that I forgot. Thanks for Ken Jurina from Epiar who hauled a bunch of us to the party in this crazy limo bus.

Text Link Ads and Best of the Web for sponsoring the Internet Marketers of New York’s charity bash.

Chris Hooley and SnoopBloggyBlawg for watching my back. Two cool mofos that I didn’t get to hang out with enough. Next time boys!

Congrats to Chris Winfield and his new bride Danielle who were married just a few short weeks before the show. I’ve been reading Chris’ blog for awhile now and he’s definitely someone who “gets it”, it was great to finally meet.

Cshel for co hosting our radio show (permanently now) and reinforcing that all women are obsessed with buying shoes. I’m perfectly happy with my flip flops thanks.

It was great to finally meet Geraldine, Rand’s fiance who melted my wife’s heart with her reaction to Rand’s proposal. Rebecca (die Wings!), Jane and Scott were there as well and did a great job representing the moz when Rand was nowhere to be found.

David Wallace and his wife Irma are always great to run into and they convinced me to bring my wife to San Jose. They also did a great job of kicking Neil’s ass into line and letting him know that parents don’t like guys talking about their daughters. You’d think he would’ve learned from being around me.

Others that it was great to see or meet: Todd Malicoat, Lee Odden, Li Evans, Loren Baker, Joe Whyte (die Wings again!), David Temple, Avi Wilensky, Patrick Price, Chris Cemper, Marcus “we’re just superior” Tandler, Jim Hedger, Frank Watson, Chris “my hero” Boggs, Tamar Weinberg (unfortunately never got a chance to talk much), David Naylor, Matt McGee, Jarrod Hunt, Troy Ireland, Andy Hagans, Patrick Gavin, Scott Orth, Bill Slawski, Debra Mastaler, Eddie, Guillaume Bouchard, SEOloser, and Justilien.

I know I’m probably forgetting a lot of people so feel free to slap me around in the comments if I left you out.

Ditto from me, Cameron — it was good to see you in NYC, too. Great week overall. By the way, there are a couple photos of you in my SES pix on Flickr if you’re interested:

It looks like you had a good time. I’ve got to stick around a little longer at the next conference.

LOL. It was all in good fun..and actually Irma was doing the “ass kicking” but in reality, a little bit of motherly advice. I just sat by watching.

All I can say is “DITTO” (except the part about the new wife).

Blake - Yea, I always learn quite a few things at the conferences. Most of the value for me though is in the networking and not necessarily the sessions.

Matt - Great pics as always! Thanks.

Bill - Yea, I think I only saw you that one night. You must have been in-and-out.
